Legal

There are many roles available within a law firm other than working as a Fee Earner. Trainee administration roles often provide a good start for a school leaver and generally require a minimum of 5 GCSEs, C grade and above. Duties can include managing the post, filing, data entry, and reception cover. Legal secretaries have fast typing speeds and are experienced in audio. Legal experience is often preferred. In addition to typing, legal secretaries will schedule client appointments, answer calls, take notes during legal meetings and assist with the firm's legal research references. Excellent computer skills are required since many legal documents are created and altered electronically. Good communication skills are also necessary in order to address clients. Legal secretaries need to be familiar with legal terminology and can often take an Ilex qualification which will assist with promotion.
